I will admit that I checked this game out because I have watched the show and was curious as to just how bad it would be. I was very pleasantly surprised and found myself playing through the whole career mode while promising myself, just one more level..

The game play and mechanics are very simple: control your waiter out on the floor to serve your customers while you prepare the ingredients and cook the meals. You will be responsible for every step of the process from seating your customers, to cleaning up after them when they're finished.  Everything is as easy as pointing at it and pressing a button – no fancy hand waving to get in the way which was greatly appreciated. While the mechanics are simple, playing the game is a little more complex. Everything must be timed so the customers orders are spread out enough to give you time to cook and serve the dishes.  Even preparing the ingredients and cooking the food must be time so each dish is ready to be served to the table at the same time. Burn the food, let it get too cold or get backed up on the orders and you will be yelled at (and cursed, though bleeped out) by Chef Ramsay.  He's there at all times watching your every move and you will be praised or verbally abused depending on your performance. At the end of service, you are rated on a scale of 1 to 5 stars – or if you really screw up, he curses you out, closes down the kitchen and you receive no stars and have to try again.

The career mode was challenging without becoming overly frustrating and there are multi-player modes so you can work cooperatively or competitively with a friend to complete service. It was a very fun experience and I was quickly hooked on making sure I completed the career mode. A nice bonus is the fact that Chef Ramsay's recipes are unlocked as you progress through the game and are accessible from the main menu.

While the graphics for Chef Ramsay are quite detailed, the rest of the game looks bland. The customers  have little variety, with each type only having one male and one female model. The background sounds are amusing but, again, lack in variety. While it's better when Chef Ramsay is yelling (or praising), I still wished for more than just a few of his insults. Still, there are much uglier and bland games and the lack of variety in the sounds and graphics area did not detract from the fun.

In short: A fun and tense casual game. Being yelled at by Chef Ramsay only makes it more fun. I've gone back and forth on how to rate it. For pure casual fun, I'd give it a 8. Lack of incentive to replay the single player career mode brings it down to 7.
