Assassin's Creed 2 Officially Announced E-mail
Written by Zombone
16 April 2009 18:14

We've all known that it was all but guaranteed, but today Ubisoft officially gave the word on the upcoming Assassin's Creed sequel. Assassin's Creed 2 can be expected this holiday season, much like its 2007 predecessor.

This time, we won't be seeing Altair - we'll be playing as Ezio in Italy. Expect much of the same gameplay, with plenty of enhancements. We'll provide more details as they come in!

Saints Row 2 DLC Slightly Delayed E-mail

Those of us who've been eagerly anticipating the Saints Row 2 DLC announced a few weeks back, will have to wait just a little bit longer. April 23 seems so far away, but maybe the delay is a good thing considering it's tax time right now. Every additional day of testing that Volition can do is a positive thing in my opinion. Considering the game itself was extremely buggy upon release, I think we can all agree that some extra QA should be encouraged.

GameStop's "New" Games Not Necessarily New E-mail
Written by Zombone

This really shouldn't be a surprise to anyone. If it is, wake the fuck up. GameStop has been selling you used games as new for years now. How do we know? Because games that are not in their factory seal are not new. It's not rocket science - if it's been opened, the disk has been removed and possibly played. This makes it used.

So, how long did it take the geniuses at GameStop to figure out that someone was eventually going to figure out their scam? They've gotten away with it for a long time - I purchased my first opened "new" game from GameStop in 2005.  I was a fucking idiot for doing so and I know better now. I never, ever, for any reason, under any condition, accept an opened game as new. You shouldn't either.

GameStop is running a big scam and are making huge profits as a result. Even in this bad economy, they're making a killing off of pulling one over on gamers (because they think we're easy targets). Which apparently we are, because most people continue to buy their games at the retail giant, despite the opened game policy. Weak.

Konami Cashing in on Zombie Overkill E-mail

Sick of zombie games yet? No? Are you sure?  Konami sure hopes not. They're releasing Zombie Apocalypse, a game that really needs no description. Seriously, if you can't figure out by now that all zombie games are the same, then you haven't played enough of them. You kill zombies - lots of them.

Zombie Apocalypse will be launching on the PSN and XBL, but we recommend you save your money. Save it for something more original.

Infamous Release Date a Month Early E-mail

Sony's highly anticipated action game Infamous, originally slated for a June release, will now be hitting retail shelves on May 26. This is great news for gamers, as we usually hear more about delays. It's rare to have a game actually release ahead of schedule.

So, what do you think? Will you be picking up a copy of Infamous next month?  Sony's got you covered with two pretty lame pre-order bonuses (an in-game power and a Home costume), but you can only get them if you purchase the game from certain retailers. Kind of scummy, especially since the bonuses are kind of.. meh.

Capcom Still in Denial About RE5 DLC Scam E-mail
Written by Zombone

Yup, we said scam.  Because any publisher who charges you for content that's already on the disk, is pulling a scam.

Capcom has been taking  a lot of flak over the Resident Evil 5 DLC. First, it was the day-one downloadable content that made gamers question if the stuff they're being charged for was already on the disk.  Then, it was the suspicious file size of the RE5 versus-mode. The publisher was called out on their antics, but are steadfastly denying that the content already existed on the physical media.

Now, it's possible - remotely possible - that somehow, an entire versus mode is contained in 1.8MB, right? All those graphics, features, and gameplay mechanics could easily be programmed into less than two megabytes. Or not.

EA Wants Their Illegal Brass Knuckles Back E-mail

While we've been on the road and away from our home state of California for the past few days, this news sure didn't escape us. We're not far from EA's Del Rey offices, so any news to come out of the publisher is usually high on our list.

Apparently EA shipped out some brass knuckles to members of the media, as part of a Godfather II promotion. The problem is, they are technically weapons and illegal in several states, including the publisher's home state. Doh! Nice going, EA!  So, what does the publisher do? Ask everyone to send them back, of course! Nice save, EA.

LittleBigPlanet Updates for April E-mail

If there's one thing Sony has done right lately, it's LittleBigPlanet. This game packs in so much fun and replay value, it's hard to say anything negative about it. Except for the price of some DLC, that is.  $6 for a costume is just asking too much, Sony.

The latest batch of updates/content is soon upon us.  This is the list of content planned for LBP over the next month:

April 9th : Rag Doll Kung Fu Costumes : $5.99 (What???)
April 9th: Patapon Costume (Europe) : $1.99
April 16th: Monkey King Costume: FREE
April 16th: 1.12 "Cornish Yarg" update: FREE
April 23rd: Creator Pack 1: FREE
April 23rd : Heavenly Sword Mini-Pack: $2.99
April 30th : Egyptian Mythology Mini-Pack: $1.99
May 7th : Norse Mythology Mini-Pack: $1.99
