Out of all the boring news lately, this one's sure to get your blood pumping. The original Wolfenstein 3D, the grandaddy of all FPS (in our opinion), is coming to the Xbox Live Arcade. A product listing for the game has appeared on the marketplace, which has us so excited we're squealing with joy like little children.  More details as they become available.

Lunar: Silver Star Story Coming to PSP E-mail

Maybe you've never heard of Lunar: Silver Star. It was originally released on the Sega Saturn in 1996, then received a proper "collector's" version in 1999 on the PlayStation 1.

So why's this news now?  Rumor has it that XSEED will be bringing this masterpiece to the PSP in the future. Right now, there is no release date - but the promise of a portable version is awesome enough to announce it now. Of course, PSP owners with modded firmware have been able to enjoy the PS1 version (and other PS1 games) for some time now. I know at least one Christmas list that this game will be going on.

Free Motorstorm: Pacific Rift DLC Coming E-mail

What's better than receiving free DLC for Motorstorm: Pacific Rift?  Receiving 8 weeks of free DLC!  That's right, PS3 owners, time to rub this in the face of Xbox 360 fanboys. It's not every day that someone gives away something for nothing - especially not eight somethings for nothing.

So what is this great free stuff?  Mainly, it's new coats of paint and some bug fixes, but that's nothing to sneeze at. You'll be getting 8 weeks of new skins, so there's sure to be something for everyone.

Bye Bye 3D Realms E-mail

It's always sad when a developer or publisher goes belly-up.  But, in this case, is anyone really surprised?  3D Realms developed the original Duke Nukem in 1991. It's now... 2009.  Have they worked on anything of note since then? I mean, how long can a developer rely on one single franchise to carry them through?  Sequels are fine and all that, but you've got to expand your horizons a bit if you expect people to buy your games. And we're not talking about shitty games (just see the list of winners these guys have developed), or games that have been in development for 12 years and never released.

R.I.P., but we can't help thinking it's not that big a loss to the industry.

Ghostbusters Game Now a Sony Exclusive? E-mail
Written by Zombone

Now here's a juicy bit of news that's frontpage worthy.  Ghostbusters, the game that was being published by Atari and due out next month, is apparently now being published by Sony. Holy console wars, Batman!  You see, if Sony publishes it, you can be pretty much guaranteed that you won't see the game on any platform that's not made by Sony. Forget the Xbox 360, Wii, or DS. Ghostbusters could very well be a PS3/PS2/PSP exclusive now.

The Sony versions will be published next month, just as originally intended. Atari may still publish the other versions,  but don't count on it. This is a great move for Sony, and I think it speaks volumes of how dire a situation Atari is in. To sell one of their most anticipated titles of 2009... is weak. They must be in some serious financial trouble, and this isn't going to help!

There's a Distinct Lack of Interesting News E-mail

Boy. April and May sure do suck for video games. Rather than post shitty news articles about stuff no one cares about (we won't name the offending websites), we're going to leave you with this cute little picture of a baby yawning. Which is exactly what we're doing until the drought is over.

Myst Now Available on iPhones for $6 E-mail

Another major plus for iPhone owners this week. Myst, the original puzzle adventure from 1993, is now available on Apple's mobile/gaming device for a mere $6. Damn, Apple! Nintendo and Sony take note.  I think it's safe to say that if Myst was ever available on Xbox Live, Nintendo Shop Channel or the PSN, it would ring in at $10. The fact that Apple consistently releases great titles for chump change is enough to interest even the most frugal gamers.

Never played Myst? For $6, you really don't have an excuse. It can be frustrating at times, but it's deep and immersive, and worth the asking price. If Apple continues on this trend, the iPhone may yet turn into a powerful mobile gaming platform, quickly overtaking both Sony and Nintendo. If only the price for hardware wasn't so steep..

A+, Apple.

Apple May Be Ready to Kill The DS and PSP E-mail

A while ago, we gave some very compelling reasons as to why the PSP was going to fall to the iPhone. Well, we're about to take it one step further.

Last week, Apple hired a former GameCube video chip designer. Now, they've snagged a former Xbox employee. Still think that Apple isn't interested in mobile gaming?  I think the question at this point is not "IF", but "WHEN".

It may not be the iPhone (but we wish it was), but maybe a completely new piece of hardware altogether. However, we dearly hope that Apple will continue to push the iPhone's capabilities - because there's nothing better than having a full-featured gaming device that's also a phone.

Texas Cheat Em for XBLA and PSN

D3Publisher announced today that Texas Cheat 'Em launches on May 13th for the Xbox LIVE Arcade and May 14th for the PlayStation Network. I have no idea why there is a day difference between the two platforms, but poker fans looking for a new way to play Texas Hold 'Em should enjoy this update that encourages cheating to win. Both platforms will support voice chat, high score tables, online multiplayer and match making. The XBLA version will also support avatars. See below for the full press release:

Ubisoft has just announced the next installment in the Ghost Recon series, tentatively titled Ghost Recon 4.  Fans of the series who are familiar with the gameplay mechanics will undoubtedly be pleased with next year's title, as it promises much of the same as the previous titles (Ghost Recon, Ghost Recon Island Thunder, Ghost Recon 2, Ghost Recon : Summit Strike, Ghost Recon Advanced Warfighter, and Ghost Recon Advanced Warfighter 2). We'll post more details as we get them.
