Just a short while ago we were bitching about Saints Row 2's bleak future. With Volition, the game's developer, nearly going belly-up, the future was uncertain for our favorite sandbox game. Well, today, THQ and Volition have stepped up the game, announcing new DLC that will be out in a few short weeks. The good news? One of the DLC packs will feature new missions, vehicles, and weapons. The bad news is that it comes in at the dreaded price of 800 points ($10). Blech. I have to admit I play Saints Row 2 more than any other game I own. According to the in-game timer, I've spent well over 90 hours playing the damn thing, which has officially turned it into a black hole of time for me. I turn it on, and suddenly it's 4 hours later. Go figure. Consider supporting Volition's efforts by spending your cash - they're in dire straits right now and could use a bit of community support. Saints Row getting three DLC packs |

What's better than killing zombies? Killing zombies with your friends. Nothing brings people closer together than eliminating hordes of undead. There aren't a ton of details yet on the different multiplayer modes that will be available in Dead Rising 2. We're assuming there will be at minimum a co-op mode and a versus mode. Either way, zombie fans will not want to miss out on Capcom's game, due out later this year. GDC 09: Dead Rising 2 Multiplayer Confirmed Updated on March 31, 2009: The "multiplayer" rumor has now been disspelled - apparently they meant to say "multiplatform", but mis-spoke as multiplayer. 'Cause, you know, that can happen. Lame. |

Mega-retailer Amazon.com is now offering a 10% discount on any video games to ECA members. Never heard of the Entertainment Consumers Association? For $20 a year, your membership gets you get a whole host of benefits that may very well pay for the yearly fee if you buy a lot of games or like to attend game-related events. It's no surprise that Amazon wants to team up with the ECA - offering gamers discounts, especially in times like these, is a smart marketing move. |

Haven't had enough zombies yet? Between Dead Rising, Left 4 Dead, Call of Duty: World at War, Burn Zombie Burn, Resident Evil (I could go on), you'd think the world had enough of the undead. But not yet! The Dawn of the Dead rip-off tribute continues with a sequel, due this year. This time, Capcom is promising as many as 6,000 characters on the screen at the same time. Read that again - 6,000. Holy shit! Somehow I doubt this, but it remains to be seen. Don't disappoint us with false promises, Capcom! ‘Dead Rising 2′ Is Supposed To Have Most Characters Ever… |

Wow. It's rare that the PSN actually gets something before Xbox Live - but in the case of the Midnight Club DLC, it actually happened. Due to a glitch, of course. So, run to your nearest Xbox 360, fire it up, and drop some hard-earned cash on the download pack from Rockstar. |

Maybe you've never heard of Break One Out, an Xbox Live Community Game recently released on the Marketplace. The premise is simple - it's a Breakout-style game where you use the ball to break all the blocks on the screen. Oh, and in case you didn't notice, the game is played with backgrounds of naked women. Rub Break One Out is the lamest attempt at sex that I've ever seen on a gaming system. It can only be described as a virgin's wet dream - because, if you're not a virgin, you'll find absolutely nothing appealing about it. All the good stuff is blacked out, so what's the point? So I can drool over her flat abs or hope to see a nipple slip in there somewhere? God, get a life. Thankfully, you may never have to suffer through this garbage because it's reportedly been pulled from Xbox Live. Tragic.

We've made our feelings on DLC pretty clear. Paying $10 for an extra hour or two of gameplay, for example, is a big no-no in my book. Releasing content for purchase that's already included on the disk is another big no. As a matter of fact, it's completely fucked up. GamerLimit has pubilshed a great article today that you really should take a look at. It's spot on, and we don't mind promoting a 'competitor' site. They're making a valid point, and it deserves to be seen by as many people as possible. Head on over there and show your support. DLC: Buying things that are on your Disc already |

I recently had the joy of flying from Los Angeles to Baltimore. Aside from the cold ass weather, it was a pleasant enough trip. At the airport, however, I came across this sign. That sure looks like an Xbox 360, doesn't it? Where's the Wii? PlayStation 3? PSP, even? It seems that in the land of air travel, when you're talking about a video game console, you must be talking about the Xbox 360. It makes perfect sense when you think about it; after all, the 360 is the top selling console, right? Nope. But it's apparently the most recognizable. |
